Chinese Ouija Board

For those who know have watched Ouija board or maybe played Ouija board in real life, definitely know that there was really something/spirit that formed the word. However, as a Hakka Chinese in Indonesia, we have something similar to Ouija board, and we called it Choi Lam Shin or in Indonesian was called Jelangkung. It can only be played during the ghost festival (it is seventh month of Chinese calendar) because at that time, the hungry spirit were believed to be roaming around us. That is why Chinese people don't get married during this month.

Choi lam shin was played with a doll usually made by coconut shell, dressed it up, and put the pencil at the bottom. And then the doll was tied up and hold by two persons. After that there was some spell to invite the spirit to possess the doll. After it was possessed, the doll will move on its own and answering any questions you asked with the pencil you tied up to the doll. Some people in my town played this for fun or just curious, some are driven to get lucky number

Even though I never played it before or see it, but I do believe that this kind of thing really has 'something' superstitious because I have experienced and seen something can't be explained happened. But, I don't advice any of you to try this kind of thing because everything have the consequences. I dont post any picture here because writing this post during midnight is scary enough.
